Support endeavour to create new Sri Lankan nation - Minister Dullas Alahapperuma

‘We should all resolve to be shareholders of a society which ensures justice and fair play to all communities,’ states Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister and SLFP Treasurer Dullas Alahapperuma in a message to mark the Deepavali festival today.

The Deepavali day is the best day which should be utilized by our fraternal Tamil community to build a new Sri Lankan nation as it is the day where poojas are held to symbolize the victory of justice and fair play over injustice and unrighteousness, the message added.

The Tamil community considered Lakshmi as the God of Wealth. Deepavali day recalled the defeat of the demon Bharatha by God Krishna and the results of earning money through undue and illegal means. All Sri Lankans including the Tamil community should make use of this opportunity where Deepavali is considered the dawn of a new year to engage in a dialogue to build national reconciliation.

It is by imbibing the objectives of national and religious ceremonies like Deepavali into the hearts of us Sri Lankans that we could support the President’s endeavour of creating a new Sri Lankan nation with patriotism, the message concluded.
