Semi-finalists found in ladies golf

Semi-finalist have been found in the 124th Sri Lanka Ladies Amateur
Open Golf Championship 2011, organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union at
Rajawella off Kandy yesterday.
The semi-finals will be worked off at 7 am and 7.10 am today.
In the quarter-finals played yesterday, Loy Hee Yung of Malaysia beat
Niloo Jayatilleke 2 up. Isza Fariza Ismail of Malaysia beat Gauri Monga
of India 2 up. Shanika Fernando of Sri Lanka came up with a fine
performance to beat compatriot and teenager Dhanushi Senadheera 4/3. In
the final match Gurubani Singh of India beat Thom Goot Ynet of Malaysia
5/3.
Shanika Fernando is the only Sri Lankan left on this match play
competitions and she will meet Gubani Singh of India and a keen tussle
is expected here. Shanika Fernando, who is the defending champion and is
in good form at present and it will be left to be seen whether she could
come out with flying colours and book her berth into the finals.
The other semi-final will be between Loy Hee Yung and Fariza Ismail,
both from Malaysia.
The F de Mel will see Rasika Ekanayake of Victoria Golf and Country
Resort meeting her club mate A Sandhya in the finals today.
In the semi-finals, Rasika Ekanayake beat Sita Zutaikhan Biuti Shaari
of Malaysia 1 up while A Sandhya received a walk over from Suwen
Selveratnam. |
