LSSP ensures social justice - Senior Minister
Priyanka KURUGALA
"The Lanka Samasamaja Party is involved in programmes to direct the
country towards a prosperous future along with the UPFA government while
ensuring social justice," Senior Minister of Scientific Affairs Prof
Tissa Vitharana said.
He was addressing the oaths taking ceremony of LSSP members selected
to local bodies, at the Senior Minister's office, Colombo.
"The LSSP always struggled to create a decent political culture.
However these selected members for local councils had to go through a
very difficult time to achieve their goals and thus they can be proud of
their efforts," he said.
According to the present election system, it is very difficult for
candidates to rise to a certain level. Action has been taken to change
this system with the enactment of new laws. These laws will be activated
very soon to clear the path for a 'violent free' election, he said.
The LSSP is on the side of the poor and the oppressed people. The
party has to go along with the prevailing capitalism system though it is
very difficult. But the LSSP can be happy that, at every level from
Provincial Council to Cabinet they have LSSP representation.
Western Provincial Council Member and Treasurer of the LSSP Kirthi
Kariyawasam said that, from the last election the LSSP was able to
overtake the JVP which is a great victory for the party. |
