‘Drug busting op successful due to police efficiency’

Certain elements are trying to make a connection between a drop in the narcotics trade in the country at present with a recent incident. However, the police and armed forces worked hard from the beginning of this year to eradicate the drug menace, Cabinet Spokesperson and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said. He was addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing held at the Government Information Department Auditorium yesterday.

Minister Rambukwella pointed out that the law enforcement authorities worked hard from the beginning of this year to raid illicit drug dens and control the drug mafia.

Several successful raids were carried out and large amounts of illicit drugs were taken into custody with drug dealers during the past by law enforcement officers.

According to Minister Rambukwella, if there is a drop in illicit drugs it is the result of the hard work carried out by the law enforcement authorities in the country to eradicate drugs menace. The authorities are yet to find out if there is a real drop in illicit drugs in the country.
