Scrumptious seafood on Sundays at Lagoon

The Lagoon, will be serving some scrumptious and sizzling seafood on Sundays with its Maalu Maalu promotion!

Lagoon is the ideal place to take a friend out for a long-drawn-out lunch as you munch on the crunchy appetizers or have a cool dip in the waters of the welcoming pool with the family.

From 12 noon onwards until 2:30 pm it's all about indulgence in seafood spread that will tempt the taste buds and tantalize with added bonuses thrown into the mix such as free pool usage.

Seafood splendour

"Truly personifying this promotion is the simple and age old cultural concept of the Sunday family lunch," Executive Chef Morugama said. "The chefs at Lagoon concocted this impressive spread from a cornucopia of home cooked seafood dishes, adding just a touch of that unique Cinnamon flavour to it," he added.

The origins of the unique promotion lie in the fishermen who traverse down lanes heartily shouting Maalu Maalu at the top of their lungs, calling out to attract customers each morning.

The startling variety of fish available from these fishermen is reflected in the wide array of dishes at the Maalu Maalu promotion.

Start the meal by choosing from the appetizing bites of small fish on offer such as karalla, salaya and fried squid. The main meal overflows with flavour, consisting of dishes such as fragrant fried rice, devilled fish roe, spicy prawn curry, dhal curry, fresh gotukola sambol and irresistible fish head curry.

The spread is enhanced with traditional accompaniments like red hot pol sambol, pickle and dried fish. Dessert includes kiri pani, fresh fruit salad and fruit trifle, among others.

A charming and welcoming restaurant, Lagoon offers an unparalleled dining experience for Colombo's seafood lovers. Ranked among the city's top restaurants, it follows the seafood market concept, with an emphasis on offering variety, freshness and quality to patrons. It also boasts an open air dining area.
