Sri Lanka-Vietnam sign eight MoUs

Eight MoUs between Vietnam and Sri Lanka relating to political, finance, industry, education, petroleum, defence and investment promotion sectors were signed at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday concurrent to the three-day official tour in Sri Lanka by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang.

The signing ceremony followed bilateral talks between the leaders of the two countries at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

The MoU regarding bilateral political consultancy between the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam and External Affairs Ministry of Sri Lanka was signed by Minister Prof G L Peiris and Vietnam Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung.

The MoU between the Finance and Planning Minister of Sri Lanka and Finance Ministry of Vietnam was signed by Senior Minister for International Monetary Co-operation Dr Sarath Amunugama and Vietnam’s Finance Minister Prof Vuong Dinh Hue.

The MoU between Sri Lanka’s Industries and Commerce Ministry and Vietnamis Ministry of Industries and Trade was signed by Minister Rishard Bathiutheen and Vietnam Industries and Trade Deputy Minister Le Doung Quang.

The MoU between Sri Lanka’s Higher Education Ministry and Vietnam’s Education and Training Ministry on Educational Co-operation was signed by Higher Education Deputy Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake and Vietnam Deputy Foreign Minister Duan Xuan Hung.

The MoU between the Presidential Secretariat and Vietnam’s Industries and Trade Ministry on co-operation in the petroleum (fuel) sector was signed by Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Industries and Trade Le Doung Quang.

The MoU between the Defence Ministry of Sri Lanka and Vietnam’s National Security Ministry on Defence Co-operation was signed by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Security Nguyen Chi Vinh.

The MoU between the BoI of Sri Lanka and Vietnam’s Foreign Investment Agency was signed by BoI Chairman M M C Ferdinando and Director General of Vietnam’s Foreign Investment Agency Do Nhat Hoang.

The MoU on Term Gas trade was signed by Chairman D H S Jayawardena and Managing Director PV Oil (Singapore) (Pvt) Ltd Hoang Tai Minh Nguyet.
