Media can make great change in society- Thera

The Sri Lanka Temperance Association which celebrates its 100th
anniversary in July 2012 has organized several programmes and press
conferences to mark the occasion.
The second press conference is on 'Narcotics, Media and Young' was
held yesterday at the Dharmavijaya Foundation under the patronage of
Temperance Association chairman Ven Harispaththuwa Ariyawanshalankara
Thera.
Ven Ariyawansha Thera said the media has to play a major role in
protecting the younger generation from narcotics.
They can make a great change in society and should make the public
aware of the dangers of drugs. Narcotics are threat to physical and
mental health.
They make humans weak and destroy the peaceful environment in
society, the Thera said.
Psychology Specialist Sarath Panduwawala and Dharmawijaya Foundation
Chairman Deshabandu Olcott Gunasekara also participated. |
