APIIT graduate school launches MBA, MSc programmes

APIIT Graduate School launched its MBA and MSc programmes at an Introductory Seminar at the APIIT City Campus last Thursday.

Prospective students as well as students who have already registered with the Masters degrees offered by APIIT attended this event. Participants were addressed by Course Director of the MBA programmes of Staffordshire University Fatimah Moran, who highlighted the unique aspects of the MBA programme offered by Staffordshire University.

In particular she explained the two residential workshops that are conducted in the UK and Czech Republic which exposes MBA students to challenges faced by leading companies in those countries.

These residential workshops are attended by students from various countries who would be given opportunities to work in teams and to experience issues faced by leading companies of the world such as Peugeot, Toyota, Skoda. Furthermore, the students get to meet the high ranked CEOs of these companies.

Moran invited APIIT Lanka students who will be studying for the Staffordshire MBA programme to consider attending the residential workshops as it will enable them to create a strong network as well as practice and develop their leadership and management skills in a new environment.

Programme Leader Postgraduate Awards Dr. Gayan Jayakody gave an introduction to all Masters Degree programmes offered at APIIT Graduate School.

In particular he mentioned the need for a student to become highly qualified and skilful in a knowledge driven economy.

He said that quality education improves students' knowledge, skills and attitude and enables them to gain competitive advantage in the job market. Addressing the unique aspects of the MBA and MSc programmes offered by APIIT Graduate School, Dr. Jayakody highlighted the excellent lecture panel, industry based dissertations, flexible delivery and excellent student support as important features when considering a postgraduate program.

Ravi Fernando, Executive in Residence of INSEAD Business School Innovation Centre delivered a presentation on Strategic Corporate Sustainability - An Emerging Paradigm.

He explained the importance of the commitment of organisations to implement strategies for sustainable business which will be the key differentiator, whilst impacting all stakeholders in the sphere of its influence.

Fernando instilled in the audience their personal, organisational and social responsibility towards achieving economic sustainability, social sustainability and environment sustainability leading to the 'Triple Ps' of Profit, People and Planet.
