Three Golds for Sri Lanka

Lahiru Fernando entered South Asian Beach Games history by
registering his name as the first gold medalist for Sri Lanka when he
won the first place in Board Race event in life saving yesterday at
Hambantota sunny seas.
Dumidu Chodipalli of India and Pakistanian Naeem Ahmed won the silver
and bronze medals respectively.
Meanwhile the second gold medal for Sri Lanka was grabbed by Sahan
Malintha in Run Swim Run event. S Polas Chowdhaury of Bangladesh won the
silver and N Sanjeewa Priyasanka collected another bronze for Sri Lanka.
Akila Wataraka won the third gold medal for Sri Lanka in Oceanman
event in the life saving which brought the gold medal tally for Sri
Lanka just a one behind India who have collected four golds.
In the open event for male and female life savers, Dilshan
Samarathunge won the silver for the hosts while Amreen Malik of India
won the bronze by fighting the waves with other male competitors.
India is leading the medal table with four gold medals, six silver
while Sri Lanka are in pursuit with three golds, one silver and four
bronze medals. Nepal and Bangladesh share one gold each
