He was speaking at a self-employment Training Workshop organised by
the Bala Mandalaya and sponsored by the Lake House ‘Tharuni’ women’s
weekly at the Green Garden Reception Hall, Gampaha recently.
Director Seelaratne Senarath said the Tharuni newspaper which is a
Lake House publication has become very popular among women of all ages
today. Tharuni is rendering a great service by bringing veteran artistes
to the doorsteps to provide free lectures and demonstrations to educate
women on self-employment awareness. He also lauded Tharuni Editor Anton
Samson for his indefatigable services towards the improvement of the
paper.
Gampaha District MP and Indigenous Medicine Deputy Minister Pandu
Bandaranayake said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa while launching mega development
schemes in the Gampaha District were giving an impetus towards improving
the lot of women folk in the district. Tharuni Editor Anton Samson and
several others also spoke.
