“Over the past decade Senior Attorney-at-Law D A P Weeratna has
delivered to us many publications on various facts of the law. One trend
is clearly seen through all these publications. D A P Weeratna has a
passion for legal scholarship and is a meticulous and in-depth
researcher,” said Supreme Court Judge, Justice Shirani Tilakawardane.
Justice Shirani Tilakawardane was speaking at the launching of the
book titled ‘Law of Maintenance’ authored by D A P Weeratna and two of
his daughters, Attorneys Jayanie B Weeratna and Vihara Weeratna at
Justice Tilakawardane’s Chambers at Hulftsdorp recently.
“One reason I believe that ‘Law of Maintenance’ will be appreciated
by all those who read it is that these characteristics of the author
shine through in the book. Weeratna has carefully determined which
elements would be most useful to those who would like an up to date
understanding on maintenance,” Justice Tilakawardane stated in a
foreword to the book.
“Maintenance Law is important to all of us because it contributes to
women’s and children’s access to legal and social equality and
contributes to the jurisprudence which advances the cause of gender
equality”, Justice Tilakawardane added.
