Traffic plan for Bharatha’s funeral

The Police Department yesterday announced a special traffic plan in view of the funeral of Presidential Director General on Trade Union Affairs Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra who was killed in a shooting incident last Saturday. The funeral will take place at Umagiliya grounds today.

The road leading to Dematagoda from Kollonnawa junction and the road leading to Kollonnawa junction from Dematagoda via Sugunasara road will be kept closed for vehicular traffic from 9.00 am. The vehicles leading to funeral house are only allowed to use these roads.

Vehicles coming from Gothatuwa will be stopped at Pirivena junction and only light vehicles coming from Gothatuwa are allowed to use the right side of the road to reach Wellampitiya via Kollonnawa junction.

No heavy vehicle will be allowed to enter the road leading to Kolonnawa from Wellampitiya. The vehicles of the residents in the area and the vehicles carrying people to the funeral will be allowed to enter.

Other vehicles leading to Kollonnawa will be diverted towards Colombo via Wellampitiya junction and Orugodawatte.

All heavy vehicles leading to kollonnawa from Dematagoda will be diverted to Colombo-Avissawella road via Meetotamulla and all light vehicles will be diverted to Rajagiriya via Obesekerapura via Gajabapura.
