Piliyandala Central and Mahanama rugby champions

Piliyandala Central College clinched the Chairman's Trophy while the Mahanama College, Colombo 3 clinched the Premier Trophy which was staged at the Royal Sports Complex on October 6 in front of a packed house. Piliyandala Central College and Mahanama College came up with an outstanding performance.

Piliyandala Central College beat Maliyadeva College Kurunegala 20 points to 5 while Mahanama College beat the formidable D.S. Senanayake College, Borella 18 points to 14.

For the Central College the try scorers were D. Peiris 2 tries, L. Sandaruwan 1 and S. Sandaruwan 1. While for Mahanama the try scorers were Y.L. Jayasingha (1), R. Buddhika Bandara (1) and Eranga (1) and a drop goal. This tournament was organized by the SLSRFA and sponsored by Nestle Lanka PLC.

The chief guest was Bandula Egodage (Asst Vice President - Affairs & Communication Nestle Lanka Ltd.).

The referees for the matches were Asela Muthumala and Gamini Indrasena respectively.
