Vidyartha in innings win over Piliyandala Central

Despte some heroics by Piliyandala Central College's late order
batsmen Vidyartha College coasted to an innings and 40 runs win in their
schools under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Police grounds,
Kandy, yesterday.
Piliyandala Central College who were trailing behind by 149 runs with
three wickets in hand, made a gallant bid to hit their way out of their
troubles.
Having been dismissed for 62 in their first innings and were 46 for 7
at close in their second innings. But the last three wickets added over
a 100 runs with Vidyartha College not using their main strike bowler
Tilina Rupasena. Piliyandala Central's M Madhushan blunted the opponents
attack with a quick 68 which had 5 sixes and 6 fours off only 31 balls
while D S Dilaka contributed 31 with 6 fours off 31 balls to put on 90
runs for the 8th wicket.
Spinner Tilina Rupasena bowled best to capture 4 for 14 returning
match figures 8 for 32.
This was Vidyartha's first win for the season.
Piliyandala Central College 62 and 42 for 7 overnight contd 148 all
out in 40.5 overs (M Madhushan 68, D S Dileka 31, Isuru Weerasinghe 2
for 21, Tharindu Ranaweera 2 for 47, Nilusha Galapitage 2 for 35).
