A special Upahara ceremony to commemorate the founders of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was organised by the party’s Horana Central Organization at Horana Town hall recently, on the initiative of Senior Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Good Governance and Infrastructure Facilities Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka.

Past leaders S W R D Bandaranaika, Sirimavo Bandaranaika and D A Rajapaksa were honoured at this ceremony.

A blood donation programme was also held at the same venue on this day as part of the commemoration.

Over 161 people including parliamentarian Vidura Wickramanayaka donated blood.

All donators were presented gifts after the programme.
