Exhibition site to become sub township

The Deyata Kirula 2012 exhibition site of Oyamaduwa will become a model sub-township, said Additional Director General of the National Physical Planning Department B A Tilakaratne.

He said 70 percent of the buildings of the Oyamaduwa exhibition ground will be permanent and will be utilized for the Oyamaduwa sub-township which includes a police station, hospital, bank, bus stand and State sector institutions. He said three buildings consisting of 120,000 square feet will become paddy storing centres of the Paddy Marketing Board. The road connecting the Mannar and Jaffna districts proceeding from Nikawewa via Oyamaduwa, Dunumadalawa, Thantirimale across Malwathuoya to Chettikulam and a three lane road from Anuradhapura to Oyamaduwa are the two major road development projects.
