Public sector pivotal for development - minister
Ridma DISSANAYAKE
The public sector has to play a major role in developing the country,
Public Management Reforms Minister Navin Dissanayake said.
The minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the
Functional and Work Processes Review Programme organized by the Public
Management Reforms Ministry at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. The
government's attempt is to develop the country. It should not be limited
to urban areas.
The main link of the development process is the administrative
machinery.
The Public Reforms Ministry will hold this programme in selected
ministries and institutions to uplift the standard of the public
service.
According to the minister, minimizing the time taken for attending to
official duties, creating better public relations, simplifying
cumbersome procedures, use of official languages for the benefit of
citizens and maximizing the contribution of public officers can be
attributed for public sector development.
Secretary to the President and National Administrative Reforms
Council (NARC) Chairman Lalith Weeretunga and Public Management Reforms
Ministry Secretary G.K.D. Amarawardena also participated. |
