Lankan in UK spared jail after cheating immigration test

A Sri Lankan woman in London who cheated immigration tests by recruiting a male fraudster to take her exam on British culture three years ago has been spared jail, media reported.

The man behind the scam also avoided going to jail yesterday despite admitting conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration. Reginold Anthony produced 40 fake driving licences he used to sit the Knowledge of Life test, which asks questions about British culture and daily life, on behalf of others.

His customers included Mitcham woman Kirusnadhevy Thambirajah.

The 31-year-old, who is originally from Sri Lanka, was finally caught out when immigration officers visited her in June this year - to find she spoke no English and her husband had to translate their questions. Courtesy: This is Local London
