Indices recordes losses

Colombo Stock Market continued to end in negative note today with both benchmark indices recording losses. ASI closed at 6677.84, down 28.64 index points (-0.43%%) and liquid MPI closed at 5,938.60, a drop of 27.91 points (-0.47%).

Daily market turnover stood at Rs.1.2 billion.

E-Channelling Plc (Rs.166.3mn) was the top contributor to the daily turnover with heavy trading. In addition Regnis Lanka Plc (Rs.120.2mn) and Panasia Power Plc (Rs.62.3mn) made heavy contributions to the turnover. Notably during the day Regnis lanka Plc which depicted a heavy down fall in the previous two days due to heavy selling, regained momentum and recorded a considerable gain. The counter closed at Rs.483.00, up Rs.48.30 (+11.11%).

Meanwhile Blue Diamonds Nonvoting, SMB Leasing Plc and Ceylon & Foreign Trades Plc demonstrated active level of trading. Foreign participation was recorded at 11.1% of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreign investors were the net sellers with a net foreign outflow of Rs.77.6mn.
