UPFA will win all LG bodies - Minister

The UPFA will win power in all 23 LG bodies including the CMC. Not only Colombo but even the Kandy Municipal Council will be won by the UPFA at the Local Government election, said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J Seneviratne.

The minister was addressing several political meetings held in Ratnapura district.

He said the whole country is aware of the development programme undertaken by the government and the people are ever grateful for ending the war and ushering in peace . Therefore they will use their votes for the UPFA.

He said a large number of rural villages have been developed under the Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision with main infrastructure facilities, such as, water, electricity and roads.

The government has implemented several programmes, such as, the Divi Neguma and Gemi Pubuduwa. They have encouraged the public to take to animal husbandry and home gardening. They have created a good future for the next generation as well, the minister said.

“We have established Nenasala Centres to improve children’s computer literacy and the government has appointed a Presidential Task Force to train English teachers also serve in the rural areas,.” he said.

“There is no challenge to the UPFA in Ratnapura and we are only trying to increase the number of seats in the MC.

We have spent large sums of money on development projects in the Ratnapura district and hope to uplift the livelihoods of the people, ” Minister Seneviratne further said.
