President views Colombo Wall artwork

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday visited the area around the Beira Lake in Colombo and viewed the Colombo Wall Artwork drawn by school children to mark World Tourism day on Tuesday.

The 1.5 km long art work considered the longest art work in Asia depicts Colombo as they would see it as a developed and clean city in another 10 years time under the massive development programme launched by the government. After viewing the art work, the President met the students who contributed to the artwork and offered them words of encouragement.

Over 2,000 students from 140 schools in the Western Province have contributed towards the artwork. Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunge accompanied the President during the visit.
