Ceremony to celebrate 62nd Chinese National Day

A commemoration ceremony to celebrate the 62nd National Day of
People's Republic of China will be held at the New Town Hall, Colombo at
3.00 pm today.
The event is organized by the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social
and Cultural Cooperation (ASLCSCC).
To coincide with the commemoration, the ASLCSCC has organized a
number of events including prize and certificate awarding for the
winners of speech, poetry and essay competitions conducted recently both
among school goers and adults.
Also five journalists who have contributed outstandingly to introduce
China to the Sri Lankan community and to the Xinhua News Agency would be
felicitated. Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne will be the chief guest and
Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiuping would be the guest of honour.
Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, Ministers Dinesh
Gunewardene, Athauda Seneviratne, Dilan Perera, Bandula Gunewardena and
Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunewardene too would be among the invitees.
