MAS Linea Intimates opens in Pallekelle

Partnership with Victoria’s Secret Pink Collegiate:

MAS Holdings yesterday marked a new era in the local apparel industry by opening MAS Linea Intimates in Pallekelle with a total investment of US $ 5 million. (Rs 500 million)

MAS Linea Intimates which is a dedicated facility to manufacture licensed apparel for its biggest client Victoria’s Secret Pink Collegiate will cater to the increasing demand for quality apparel products while strengthening its partnership with Victoria Secrets.

MAS Intimates and MAS Design CEO Nathan Sivagananathan said they are geared to post US $ 100 million turnover this year with the partnership with Victoria’s Secret Pink Collegiate and is on the look out to increase the internal capacity of the factory whilst increasing the present 900 Linea Intimates workforce up to 1,400 before the first quarter of 2012.

“We also have plans to acquire new garments manufacturing facilities to manufacture more products to cater to the future requirement of pink products,” he said. Despite the loss of duty free access to USA and UK , MAS records a significant growth in its operation. Loss of GSP plus concessions has not made any negative impact on its entire operation. “Our business to UK and USA has been growing at a significant rate and are optimistic of achieving the company’s future growth aspirations successfully,” Sivagananathan said.

MAS Holdings Chairman Mahesh Amalean said MAS partnership with Pink has further strengthened with the opening of Linea Intimates.

“We are happy to team up with the Pink brand which has a prestige name and amazing growth in the market place. The Pink Licensed Apparel program has become an important part of the brands’ strategy and will open the pink city in Kandy,” he said. Limited Brands, Executive Vice President Mary Ellen Prentis thanked the MAS teams for their effort to make the smooth transition to licensed manufacturing.

“MAS and Linea Intimates provide outstanding service and fabulous products our customers love. We thank the MAS team for their untiring efforts to make this partnership a success,” she said.
