Maharagama development project gets Rs 57 m

The Economic Development Ministry has allocated Rs 57 million for development projects in the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat Division.

The funds have been allocated for 192 projects. The funds will be unutilized for reconstruction of roads, minor irrigation projects, development of school lavatorial projects, mothers and children counselling centres and pre-school development.

These facts were cited at the Divisional Development Committee Meeting held at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat under the patronage of Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Meanwhile, the social development unit of the Samurdhi Development Authority had allocated Rs 14.9 million for the Diriya Piyasa housing project for the Colombo district.

A total of 149 Diriya Piyasa houses will be built before the end of December while Rs 100,000 will be provided for each family.

Widows and families having a large number of school attending children will get the priority in providing housing funds.
