IT for teachers to enhance teaching skills

The government is taking measures to educate teachers on the use of
computers to enhance teaching skills in schools, NWP Chief Minister
Athula Wijesinghe said.

He was speaking at the opening of the new computer lab at Nakkawattha
Maha Vidyalaya which is worth Rs 500,000.
He said today computer knowledge was becoming more important in
people’s lives. The Education Ministry encourages awards presentation to
exceptional primary and secondary school teachers who develop innovative
teaching methods by using information, communication technology as a
tool in teaching.
He said if the teachers are doing a good job none of the students
will be required to attend extra classes conducted by the very same
teachers who earn money both from the government as well as from
students. He said under the Mahinda Chinthana programme the Wayamba
Education Ministry provides facilities to rural schools similar to that
of town areas.
Children of today will be the leaders of tomorrow, he said.
He stated knowledge is the only thing that will enable the children
to become law-abiding, disciplined and decent citizens as well as
leaders of future Sri Lanka, he added. |
