Milo President's Trophy rugby from September 18

The Milo President's Trophy Rugby Tournament 2011 quarter-final, semi-final matches and the grand final organized by Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Plc, will be held from September 18 to October 6 in Kandy and Colombo.

The annual tournament which consists of three categories, President's Trophy, Premier Trophy and Chairman's Trophy marks the 19th episode of a battle between 24 leading schools rugby teams in the island.

The specialty this year will be the A -category has been named as the President's Trophy after a laps of two years which used to be so, from 1995 to 2008.

The knock out series which started way back in 1993 with the participation of teams from A and top teams from group B were extended to premier and chairman's trophies enabling more schools to take part in the tournament.

Accordingly B and C group teams together with winners and runners-up in division two were able to take part in premier and chairman's trophy as a fore-runner to the knock out tournament from 2008.

St Peter's College, Bambalapitiya , Isipathana College, Colombo and Kingswood College, Kandy are the favourites who have each won the president's trophy four times. S Thomas' College notched the title in 2009 whereas 2010 trophy is yet tobe awarded .
