The Sports Ministry has taken steps to hold the Sri Lanka Body
Building Federation (SLBBF) election on September 17, putting an end to
a long standing conflict between two parties in the federation.
The election was not held earlier after Sri Lanka Veterans Body
Building Officials Committee filed 25 allegations against the former
SLBF President K. Kapila Kumara and other officials accusing him of bad
governance and financial malpractices.
Sports ministry has announced the SLBF election after conducting an
inquiry into those complains.
A press briefing was held recently which was attended by Kapila
Kumara and other members of the SLBF at the Otters Aquatic Club to
inform the media about the aftermaths of the inquiry.
He claims that the Sports Ministry has inquired into 17 allegations
and cleared him from all complains.
He also said that he is highly satisfied with the impartial inquiry
and it has helped to highlight the real culprits who did damage to SLBF
and to the sport.
"As a result of this inquiry, former SLBF secretary Chandana Aluthge
was issued a two year ban from holding any post in national federations
which will be valid till July 13, 2013," said Kapila Kumara. Sports
Ministry has advised Kapila Kumara to be cautious and vigilant on
official affairs when working in a national federation.
Kapila further said that they will contest in the election with a
strong team headed by Parliamentarian Duminda Silva as the presidential
candidate and hope to work for the betterment of the sport in future.
