Comfortable win for Colombo BC

Colombo Basketball Club registered a comfortable win over SL Army
team (60-47) in their Carlton Cup division 'A' basketball match at the
Police Park courts yesterday.
Both teams battled point for point from the beginning as the score
board read 14-13, Colombo BC led by a point at the end of first quarter.
Soldiers played a speedy game, but were not organized in attack. They
were trailing four points at half time (28-24). Winners never prominent
in attack but maintained their lead in the second half posting a 10
point lead at the end of third quarter (43-33). Soldiers could not make
inroads and went down with a 13 points margin at the end.
P. Udugalamulla (15 points) and R. Randima were the chief scorers for
the winning team while D. Sampath (19 points) and D. Fernando (13
points) were the best scorers for the losers.
Meanwhile in a division 'B' match, Field Force Youth Basketball Club
tamed the Police 'B' team in their own den (57-50). Policemen went ahead
in the first quarter (14-10) but could not maintain their dominance and
were two points behind at the half time stage (26-24).
Winners took control in the second quarter but received a level
attack in the third quarter where policemen collected 12 points against
11 from the winners.
Field Force lads played an aggressive game in the final quarter and
scored 20 points while allowing their rivals to grab 14 points to win
the match with a seven point lead at the end. C. Amarasinghe added 27
and C. Kulathunga scored 18 points for the winners while S. Herath and
N. Fernando scored 12 and 11 points respectively for the losers.
