Colombo Veterans Football Club tours India
The Colombo Veterans Football Club embarked on a tour to India for
the 6th international veterans goodwill soccer tournament in Chennai,
India.
This is their 5th overseas tour for this annual veteran football
championship and CVFC hosted 2010 edition which was successfully
conducted under the chairmanship of R Puvanendiran.
The team will play in many matches against other veteran teams from
India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Mauritius Islands. The Sri
Lanka is skippered by their ever dynamic leader R Puvanendiran and the
team coach is M S M Faiz, the former national player.
Credit should go to Puvanendiran for his efforts to keep a veterans
team together and especially with many ex-national players who have
joined this prestigious Colombo Veterans Football Club after giving up
competitive football.
They also commended the support and assistance they receive from
Football Federation of Sri Lanka for the up-keep of the team and special
mention must be made of Manilal Fernando, the Chairman - Management
Committee of FFSL.
Team comprised several ex-national players and leading club players
of yester years.
