Upcountry line cleared

Work has commenced to remove rocks obstructing the upcountry railway line between Nanu-Oya and Great Western railway stations and normal service is expected to start by evening today, a Sri Lanka Railways spokesman said.

He said train services from Colombo Fort to Badulla were cancelled from September 13 due to rocks that had fallen on the railway track.

“Due to this, the upcountry trains ply only upto Nanu-Oya,” he said.
