Hayleys, Amaya boost market

The market returned to a vivacious mood yesterday with all round investor participation seeing a distinct rise.

Speculative trading continued along with active trading in selected blue chips. The broader market index, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) climbed by 1.05% (72.21 points) whilst the Milanka Price Index rose by 1.09% (67.95 points). The ASPI and the MPI ended the day at 6,951.50 points and 6,301.76 points respectively.

Market turnover increased considerably primarily on the back of high volume off the floor trades in Hayleys and Amaya Leisure (CONN). The two counters contributed 61% to the days total market turnover of Rs 8.78b. The other major turnover generators for the day were Colombo Land, ACME Printing and Multi Finance. (SC Research)
