New look Rupavahini under Binara Peraliya

The entire programme line-up of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), the national television has been changed. The new programme line-up Binara Peraliya (Change of September) begins from this month, SLRC chairman Mohan Samaranayake told the Daily News yesterday.

Samaranayake said news will be presented in a new style. "The new programme line-up has been formulated to preserve Sri Lankan culture, especially the accurate use of language, to improve morals and ethics, to preserve social values, to give priority to national objectives while providing education and entertainment in a disciplined manner. A special programme will also be telecast for year five schoolchildren sitting for the scholarship exam," he said. The new programme line-up will include newly designed programmes such as Sea Quest an adventure science fiction series to be telecast with Sinhala sub titles under the title Samuduru Suviseriya. It will be telecast on week days at 6.30 pm beginning yesterday. A religious programme Daham Sithuwili will be telecast daily at 5.35 am, Sanda Ranga Madala (a musical programme) and Sudu Diya Dothak will be telecast at 10.20 pm every Tuesday. Vyaparika Lokaya, a business programme will be telecast at 2.00 pm on week days, while Irida Ayubowan has been re-introduced. The programme will be telecast every Sunday under four main themes.

A monthly porogramme on literature, Poorvika, will be telecast once a month.

Aruma Puduma Roda Hathara is another special magazine programme. Dhara, which includes performing arts, various characters, history and many other subjects will be telecast every second and fourth Sunday at 7.30 pm. A sports programme, Sports Quiz, will be telecast for sports lovers. The weekly chart show Ridee Tharaka will be telecast every Sunday at 11.00 am. Batahira Ahasa, a special programme for young talent will be telecast on week days from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

The children's cartoon programme Sekili Ru Karaliya will be telecast on week days at 4.00 pm.
