'Ticketless passengers should be nabbed to minimize losses'

It is necessary to nab passengers travelling without tickets to minimize the loss of 20 percent of income of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, said Transport Minister Kumara Welgama participating at a ceremony to handover letters of appointment to Sri Lanka Transport Board workers at Shalika Hall, Narahenpita yesterday.

The minister also said that though there is a large number of workers of the SLTB there is a lack of drivers and conductors. So newly appointed drivers and conductors have a big responsibility to earn more income to the SLTB. The progress of an institution depends on the dedication of workers and strict action will be taken against wrong doers, he said.

Transport Board Chairman M.D. Bandusena, Deputy Chairman L.A.Wimalaratne also participated.
