Legal action against errant sailor

The Navy will take legal action against a sailor attached to the SLNS Gajaba in the North-central Naval Area who had left the base with a T 56 automatic assault rifle and 120 rounds of ammunition without permission.

The incident was reported on August 23 and the sailor was taken into naval custody for legal proceedings, the Sri Lanka Navy headquarters said in a release yesterday.
