Rajasinghe Central clinch boys under 14 title

Rajasinghe Central College, Ruwanwella won the boys' under 14 championship in the DSI Super Sports Schools Volleyball Championship being held at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Kendepola Vidyalaya, Rakwana won the girls' championship in the same age category yesterday. St Mathew's Vidyalaya, Deniyaya emerged champions in the girls' under 16 event by defeating St Anthony's College, Thoduwawa by 3-1.

Rajasinghe Central College overcame Dammissara Central College, Nattandiya by 3-0 in a three setter game. The first set was an easy go for Rajasinghe Central as they had a lead of 12 points to their opponents. In the second set Dammissara Central were ahead of Rajasinghe Central and the score in the midway of the game was in favour of Dammissara. But Rajasinghe College were in control towards the end of the game where they finished it at 25-23. The third set was so crucial for Dammissara However it was Rajasinghe Central who finished the game winning the third set by 26-24.

Kendepola Vidyalaya won the first set in the under 14 girls final against Kumarigama Vidyalaya, Uhana by 25-22 but the latter won the second set by 25-20 in a match dominated by them. Kendepola Vidyalaya were well organized in the third set and they were always ahead of Kumarigama Vidyalaya who lost the game by a margin of three points. Kendepola Vidyalaya with the advantage of having won two sets went onto do the same in the fourth set where they beat Kumarigama Vidyalaya by 25-22.

Under 14 boys champions- Rajasinghe Central College, Ruwanwella

Runner up- Dammissara Central College, Nattandiya

Best setter- K H D Kumarage (Rajasinghe Central College)

Best spiker- S M A R S Subasinghe (Dammissara Central College)

Best player in the final- N R S R Gunaratne (Rajasinghe Central College)

Under 14 girls champions- Kendepola Vidyalaya , Rakwana

Runner up- Kumarigama Vidyalaya, Uhana

Best setter- A D M M Maduwanthi (Kendepola Vidyalaya)

Beat spiker- K G D Apsara (Kumarigama Vidyalaya)

Beat player in the final- P G P Apsara (Kendepola Vidyalaya) Under 16 girls champions
