'Education creates future of the country'

Education creates the future of students and the country and it creates the path to prosperity, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.

The minister said so participating at a scholarship awarding ceremony for 300 school students and 75 university students at the Public Library, Colombo.

Each school student is paid Rs 900 monthly while an undergraduate is paid Rs 1,800 monthly until they complete their studies.

The programme is being conducted by Nihon Suri Lanka Kyoiku Kyokai in Japan.
