Report on unauthorized buildings to be presented to Cabinet
Nethali STRUYS
A report on the unauthorized constructions in government flats and
housing complexes, is to be prepared and presented to the Cabinet in
view of solving problems regarding unauthorized constructions, the
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.
The minister said so during his inspection tour of the Singapore
housing project site.
Instructions have been given to the National Housing Development
Authority (NHDA) in preparing this report, which has been almost
completed.
This report would identify unauthorized constructions that should be
removed at all costs and those causing obstruction to common amenities
and construction which do not post any harm or obstruction.
This sorting out would help take the final decision in a much more
appropriate manner, the Minister said.
The minister further said that most of the illicit constructions had
been built in 1994, and he had prevented it spreading since he took
over. |
