Distillery in Chilaw lagoon busted

The Walana anti-vice squad with the support of the police naval unit raided an illegal distillery on the bank of the Chilaw lagoon.

Walana anti vice squad on a tip-off reached the centre by boat and arrested two suspects along with equipment valued at Rs. one million.

The other suspects escaped by swimming, Police said. The liquor was in demand in the Chilaw district as it was produced using fresh fruit.
