Chaminda PERERA
The Indian company involved in drilling in Mannar basin for oil and
gas resources yesterday said that positive results can be expected by
the first quarter of next year.
According to a senior officer of Cairn India who wished to remain
anonymous, over 70 Indian and foreign engineers who are experts in the
oil exploration process, have been deployed for oil drilling activities
in the Mannar basin.
He said a modern ship has been deployed for oil exploration in the
Mannar basin. "This fifth generation ship has never been deployed in
this region for oil exploration," he said. He said the ship deployed in
the Mannar basin is very advanced and it can penetrate deep in search of
oil and gas resources.
This company is involved in oil exploration activities in a number of
off shore and inshore sites in India, including Rajasthan, where the
daily output of crude oil exceeds 120,000 barrels. |
