State employees, politicians must fulfil masses' wishes - President

State employees have to perform their duties properly to fulfil wishes of the people while politicians too should be committed to achieve the same end, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday.

President Rajapaksa made this observation at the opening of the head office of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation's Ceypetco Nivahana at 109, Dr Danister de Silva Mawatha, Dematagoda.

He said the people have entrusted a great task to this government.

"The government and public servants have a duty to fulfil their wishes," he said.

The President said that the construction of complete government offices such as the CPC head office with all facilities was significant as he always maintained that the working class should have a good working environment.

President Rajapaksa said that the people expect a proper service from the CPC and added that institutions like the CPC and Ceylon Electricity Board together, can play a major role in the country's development. Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha, Petroleum Industries Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, Senior Minister A H M Fowzie and MP Thilanga Sumathipala also spoke.

Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyin Silva and Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem were also present.
