Three before judge in cocaine smuggling case

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) produced three suspects, including a woman, who were allegedly attempting to smuggle 53 grams of cocaine via courier, before Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne on August 18.

Of the three suspects, one is a US citizen and the other two Sri Lankans.

The PNB conducting further investigations, is seeking international Police and US Narcotics institution assistance to bust the illicit drug network. After submissions were made by PNB Director SP S W M Senaratne, the judge ordered to detain the Lankan suspects along with the US citizen till August 23 at the bureau.
