RCGC junior golf champions

Royal Colombo Golf Club won the inaugural Inter Club Junior Golf
Championship by defeating Victoria Golf and Country Resort by 5 points
to 1 at the Victoria Golf Course at Rajawilla off Kandy yesterday.
Royal Colombo Golf Club clinched the double by winning the match play
competition by 10 points to 2 to win both trophies.
Ishara Fernando of RCGC was the star of the championship when he
registered a good gross 85 Chanaka Perera also of RCGC finished a close
runner up with 89 gross. In third place was 2 offer Sikkander (RCGC)
with 91 gross to clinch all three top places.
This was a historic championship as this was the first time a Golf
Junior Golf Championship was conducted between two clubs in the history
in Sri Lanka.
President of Sri Lanka Golf Union Tony Wilhom was the chief and he
distributed the awards along with Priath Fernando of SLGU.
Tony Withom speaking on the occasion thanked Victoria Golf and
Country for hosting the inaugural Junior inter club golf championship
and this will be held in Colombo next year.
The presentation of awards took place at the Araliya Restaurant of
VGCR with Jehan de Saram acting as master of ceremonies.
