UNP acts according to party constitution - Ranil

The UNP always acts according to the party constitution, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo on Tuesday, Wickremesinghe said that the UNP has won power in the Colombo district at elections held in the recent past.

“However, some elements are attempting to disrupt its victories,” Wickremesinghe said. He said that the Maharaja Organization requested two Parliamentary seats from the National List of the UNP at the last general election. “However, this request was rejected,” he said.

Wickremesinghe said, therefore, the Maharaja Organization is now carrying out a media campaign against him.
