Policeman injured in kasippu raid

A constable of Panadura Police was badly injured when he was beaten and attacked with a sword during a raid on a kasippu den. The incident occurred at Mahabellana on Monday when unarmed policemen attempted to raid a kasippu den.

The kasippu den owner had attacked the policemen during the raid injuring one while the other had run away. The injured constable was admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital.

Meanwhile, a gramasevaka was injured when he was attacked during a heated argument. Mahabellana gramasevaka Wimal Shantha Samaraweera who received injuries to three fingers and a leg was admitted to the Panadura Hospital on Monday.

Panadura police are investigating. The assailant is absconding.
