Ceylon Oxygen Limited (COL), a member of the Linde Group, has entered
into an agreement to supply 150,000 kg of liquid oxygen per annum to the
Lanka Hospitals PLC for a period of five years.
As part of the agreement, COL will be installing a 20,000 litre
liquid medical oxygen storage tank at the Lanka Hospitals, the largest
such tank to be used in a private hospital in the country.
Ceylon Oxygen's Chief Executive Niran Pieris said, "We are delighted
that The Lanka Hospitals has chosen COL as its preferred medical oxygen
supplier and its partner to provide a liquid tank solution. In larger
hospitals, conversion to a liquid tank solution offers many benefits
compared to using a large number of small cylinders."
"We look forward to the continuation of a very successful long-term
partnership with The Lanka Hospitals as it moves forward in its
expansion plans and serves the medical needs of its growing number of
patients," Pieris added.
Ceylon Oxygen Limited, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this
year, is the market leader and sole supplier of liquid oxygen and
nitrogen in Sri Lanka and is the only gas company to have its own
nitrous oxide plant and international standard laboratory. The company
has invested Rs 1.3 billion on a new 65 tpd plant in Sapugaskanda,
scheduled to come on stream in September 2012, to ensure that it is
well-positioned to meet the future requirements of both the medical and
industrial sector in Sri Lanka.
