‘Obama approval rating lowest ever’

US: US President Barack Obama’s approval rating has dropped below 40 percent for the first time during his over three-year presidency, a new poll says.

The Gallup’s daily tracking poll showed on Sunday that only 39 percent of respondents approve of Obama’s job performance in the White House.

According to the survey, 54 percent of those voted disapprove of Obama’s performance.

The new figures are the worst for the US president, who won the 2008 presidential election with a high approval rating.

Obama’s re-election for 2012 could be in peril for lack of a strong message about what he will do to lift the country out of economic malaise and political deadlock.

The poll comes on the eve of Obama’s bus trip that will take him to Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois in the coming days.
