Lankan youths attempt at new Guinness Record

The largest mosaic formation in the world spelling the word 'youth' was formed by 1,500 Sri Lankans at the Colombo University Grounds to commemorate International Youth Day yesterday.

Youths from all over the island joined hands to break the Guinness World Record. Representatives from the Guinness World Records Committee were present to adjudicate the event.

The largest mosaic formation was organized by British Council's Global Changemakers Sarah Jameel, Lihini Ratwatte, Sulakshana Senanayake, Sikander Sabeer and Mohamed Husni.

The previous record belonged to the Association Normandie Impressioniste in Rouen, France. A total of 1,250 people made up this painting mosaic which measured 600 m.sq and represented the cathedral of Rouen painted by Monet.
