Unparalleled Nawaloka personality
Even the Earth trembles. Hurricanes can destroy everything. Fire and
water too are like that.
Much can be seen in human beings, animals, beasts, birds and insects,
in all plants and trees, that emerge from the primary elements. One has
to study different personalities to properly appreciate the variety in
human beings.

The demise of Deshamanya H K Dharmadasa is an irreparable loss to the
whole country, to all races and all communities and to the people of all
creeds and religions.
In the recent past, he was a pioneering entrepreneur. He was a
businessman with a high acumen. He was a philanthropist.
He was a person of humility. He had an empathy for the suffering of
others. He possessed a marked sense of gratitude. He was the first among
the men of virtue.
It is extremely difficult to find, efficient, experienced, humble and
simple personalities to fill the hiatus left by the demise of this great
personality. The virtues of a person who has passed away, are extolled,
not to express praises about the deceased person, but for the purpose of
getting such personalities for the country. In today’s society it is
very difficult to find persons who are praiseworthy.
It is not at all an easy task to extol the virtues of great
Dharmadasa, who assisted both the rich and the poor, building rock-solid
business enterprises, gradually elevating the small beginnings into
complex and systematic entrepreneurial achievements.
It is extremely difficult to find from our country today, an
individual who could set the kind of example given by Dharmadasa, to
vain people no to turn ran-rod straight and unbending in pride, when one
grows stronger and stronger. He had an in-born ability to discern, with
deep wisdom, what had to be done. His virtuous acts will fill a book of
thousands pages. The details of such activities are in our possession.
But, I will not elaborate them, in due deference to his Aspirant Buddha
qualities of great humility.
He had an in-born ability to identify good friends, as defined by the
Supreme Buddha. He associated them. He was brave enough to act according
to his conscience. He never wanted to deceive anyone. He associated
monks quite closely. He associated the members of the clergy of other
faiths as well. He displayed quality of an Aspirant Buddha, by extending
his compassion and his charity to all, without discriminating in terms
of such differences as race or religion.
Dharmadasa, reached the highest rungs in business enterprise. He made
much offerings to all the people in Sri Lanka, and to the global
Buddhist Community, making one wonder whether anyone would appear in
this country in the future, who will be able parallel what he has done.
In his name, I hope, that thousands of such virtuous persons will appear
in this country, due to the merit he accumulated and due to our
meritorious activities. With that hope I wish late Deshamanya H K
Dharmadasa, the eternal Bliss of Nibbana.
