Mahinda ALUTHGEDARA
A programme to register all Sri Lankan pilgrims and tourists visiting
Tamil Nadu in India has been launched by the Tamil Nadu Police.
All Sri Lankans visiting Tamil Nadu are required to register their
names with the relevant Police station in the areas they are visiting,
said Sri Lanka's Deputy High Commissioner in India Vadivel
Krishnamoorthy.
This means that Sri Lankans should inform Tamil Nadu Police about the
areas they are visiting and taking lodging facilities. This step has been
taken to ensure the security and safety of Sri Lankans visiting the
Indian Southern state following the attack on a group of Sri Lankan
pilgrims by a group of LTTE sympathisers. |
