Trinity trounce Antonians

Trinity College trounced their traditional rivals St Anthony's
College by 9 wickets in the second match of their schools under-17
Division I cricket tournament match played at the Asgiriya Stadium,
Kandy yesterday.
The lions were home shortly after lunch.
The Antonians who went as under dogs against the unbeaten Trinitians
were off to a reasonably good start with their openers putting on 26 and
were 34 for 1 at one stage.
But they lost their next 9 wickets for the addition of only 20 runs.
They lost three wickets with the score at 38 with spinner and skipper
Rajitha Jayatunga doing the damage at that point taking 3 for 2.
Right arm medium pacer Madhushan Supendran took 4 for 22 and was
supported by left arm spinner Lakshan Jayasinghe took 3 for 9. Trinity
College chasing an easy victory target of 55 in 50 overs reached their
target in 9.2 overs.
Lakshan Dassanayake made 33 and opener Bhaghya Palihawardena scored
18 not out and they put on 45 for the first wicket.
St Anthony's College: 54 all out in 24.5 overs (H M Bulathsinhala 13,
Madhushan Supendran 4 for 22, Lakshan Jayasinghe 3 for 9, Rajitha
Jayatunga 3 for 2).
Trinity College: 55 for 1 in 9.2 overs (Lakshitha Dassanayake 33,
Bhaghya Palihawardena 18 n.o).
